I made the mistake of watching The Conjuring home alone one night during a thunder storm. That film scared the shit out of me, just say’n. Well now it seems that scary doll called Annabelle that was briefly shown in the film is getting her own spinoff movie that is set to be released October 3rd.
The film will be based around the story of the haunted doll, that turns out to be one of the more famous cases of demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren that were portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the film. As the case goes, the doll was the property of a college student and her roommate back in the 1970’s. It supposedly moved around on its own leaving messages around the apartment. The girls contacted a medium, who claimed to be communicating with a spirit of a little girl named Annabelle. When the Warrens were later called into the case, they determined that the doll was not haunted by a ghost at all, but by a demonic entity.
Not a great deal is known about the film’s plot at this stage, considering a majority of the Annabelle legend was covered during The Conjuring, it seems highly unlikely they’d rehash the same story into its own feature, but there is plenty of room to expand those five minutes into something more detailed.
Another idea is it could be a new story detailing the early events surrounding the doll before she crossed paths with the Warrens. The film is being directed by John Leonetti, who served as cinematographer on The Conjuring, and written by Gary Dauberman. Considering it is meant to be released in October, we should expect to see a trailer in the not too distant future.
Either way I’m sure viewers will be in for a scare or two.
However in my personal opinion nothing beats the possessed doll that was Chucky!
What do you think about the idea of Annabelle movie?
