‘True Blood’ says goodbye to another fan favourite…

Alcide Herveaux Joe Manganiello shirtless True Blood season 7

It’s been a good 24 hours, and if this post comes across as spoiler, get over it! Seriously it’s 2014, here’s the Internet, get out from under the rock! When it was said that not everyone was going to make it through the final season of True Blood, they definitely weren’t kidding. First Tara (did anyone care?), and now my beloved Alcide!!!

I’ll be straight up, was never a big fan of the whole lumber jack look… well that was until Joe Manganiello graced the screens as Alcide Herveaux some five years ago, and ever since then my taste in men changd. It’s safe to say if you’re friends with Sookie Stackhouse, highly likely death is creeping at your door. At the end of season 6 when I first saw the beefy werewolf cozying it up with everyone’s desirable pariah of a faerie, I kinda thought it wasn’t going to end well, but I didn’t expect they’d knock him off in the third episode, let alone by some random trigger-happy-hillbilly!

Alcide's death in True Blood

In an interview following the airing of the episode even Manganiello himself was still surprised saying, “Getting shot in the head by some nameless, faceless hillbilly, dying naked in the woods on the ground and then being in Malibu when it was about 30 degrees out and try not to shiver? [Laughs] That’s not exactly how I saw it going down, but I guess it’s better than giving one of the vampires the bragging rights.”

Now that Alcide is out of the way, I suppose we better brace ourselves for the return of that weird triangle between Sookie, Bill and Eric. I’m yet to decide whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Well Alcide Herveaux/ Joe Manganiello, Thanks for the memories…and fantasies!
