Madonna and Lady Gaga are reportedly competing to win the prestigious headline slot at a concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Concert organisers reportedly want both of them to perform, but each singer is said to be refusing to server as “support act” for the other, ultimately putting organisers in a position where they may be forced to choose one or the other.
And here we go again. These two are no strangers at rubbing each other up the wrong way. I’m sure many of you may recall back in 2012, when Madonna branded GaGa’s “Born This Way” hit “Reductive”. Madonna then went on to perform a mash-up of “Express Yourself” and “Born This Way” during her MDNA World Tour, highlighting the similarities between the two.
So of course it comes as no surprise the Queen of Pop who is trying so hard to keep her crown and remain relevant, and Mother Monster who simply lives for the “Applause” are now battling it out for the headliner spot.
“Madonna and Gaga are equally desperate for the honour of performing,” an ‘insider’ apparently told the Daily Star. “They both like to think of themselves as very political, and will also have new albums to promote by then. It could reignite their long-running feud as the date draws nearer because neither are used to being told no.”
The same ‘insider’ then apparently added: “However, it’s highly likely organisers would choose the Queen of Pop over Gaga, if push came to shove.”
Well… it sounds like organisers have a tough decision on their hands. Personally, I think if they’re both going to be so hard to deal with, kick them both to the curb. While I’m more of a fan of Lady Gaga than Madonna, a concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall should not be about them. That’s just my two cents worth.
Madonna or Lady Gaga? Who do you think?
