This Sunday Ric’s Exposed Unsigned and Originals Band Competition returns with a difference with its special edition titled Exposed Ultimate. For the first time the competition has been opened up to solos and duos on top of the usual bands of three or more members.
Each sunday from 7pm depending on the heat, there will either be five bands or five solos/duos showing what they’ve got in 30 minutes in front of a panel of 3 judges and live music lovers. Now it’s not just the judges that decide who will make it till the semi-finals and the epic grand final, as part of it comes down the the public who attend the night. So needless to say we encourage as many to come along and vote for who they think deserves a spot in the semi-finals.
There are some pretty cool prizes to be won that includes a $1000 cheque provided by Captain Morgan, a guitar by Coopers, a gift voucher by West End Music, as well as an editorial and advertising package by The Music.
Kicking off the competition this Sunday the 7th of September for Heat 1 of Exposed Ultimate is…
Allthingslost is a 19 year old producer and vocalist from Brisbane. His music presents a diverse exploration of sounds and styles, combined with very raw and genuine vocals. His defined electronic style is one that has quickly developed interest over the past year. With the combination of his defined vocal character and the support of the expanding live act, 2014 presents an exciting live show not to be missed.
Yaurout is a three-piece Grunge-Rock band. This band gets intense just when you want it to… and you know you want it to. Influenced by Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Violent Soho, and other loud noises like rubbish trucks and jet planes, Yaurout is going play some music that you might get into, or might not. If indie dream pop is in, then we’re out. And you’d say to us Yaurout, and we’d say, yes.
Goodbye Joker are an explosive 5-piece Alternative Rock outfit hailing from the heart of the Gold Coast, Australia. With an eclectic range of influences from Bullet For My Valentine, Brand New, and Taking Back Sunday – their blend of edgy guitars and wailing vocals create an explosion of energy and poetry that give depth to their upbeat, all out rock sound.
This six piece dirty reggae group were formed during their studies at university in Brisbane. From the start, they have all had their different musical backgrounds and tastes ranging from the obvious reggae roots found in their music, to other metal influences and also contemporary jazz feels and pop. From these styles and their imaginations, they have created their own little music vibe feeding off of artists by the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, Twelve Foot Ninja and Dubmarine. They have created some music to groove to. The Rocket Sox are now finding their feet in the Brisbane music scene and spreading their melted butter all over it.
So come along, enjoy a few drinks, support local live music and hopefully experience some new local talent!
