For those hoping for a Mystique spin-off movie after Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, you better get the tissues out now because it ain’t happening. Well at least not with Jennifer Lawrence. In the past Lawrence definitely hasn’t held back in expression her frustration in having to spend hours in makeup donning the Mystique costume, so it’s not that much of a big surprise that she’s leaving the X-Men universe after her third go-round.
Speaking with MTV News during the red carpet premiere of her latest film Serena, Lawrence pretty much confirmed the news that Apocalypse would mark her final performance as Mystique. “It is my last one, actually,” the actress said, without any further elaboration. Previously screenwriter Simon Kinberg expressed that Apocalypse would complete the trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class. Does that mean Micheal Fassbender and James McAvoy’s reign as Magneto and Professor Charles Xavier is coming to an end? Only time will tell.
So I think it’s safe to say you can mark it your calendars that Lawrence will make her final appearance as Mystique in X-Men: Apocalypse when the film hits cinemas May 27, 2016.
Must be real tough getting paid more than most of us will ever see in our lifetimes just to wear Halloween makeup. We’re really feeling for you Jennifer xo
