I gotta admit I wasn’t too sure how I felt about Jesse Eisenberg being cast as Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Okay so Superman Returns may have been a bit of a flop (I surprisingly enjoyed it), but I loved Kevin Spacey’s portrayal of the Supervillain. In my eyes, Eisenberg has some pretty big shoes to fill.
Well Entertainment Weekly has given our first look of Eisenberg’s portrayal of the character and look at Jesse as Lex. He’s bald! Surprise, surprise. A bald Lex Luthor. Haven’t seen one of those before!
“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure,” Zack Snyder tells EW, “other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course.”
While Eisenberg describes the character as, “The new Lex is a complicated, challenging person” and that both he and screenwriter Chris Terrio worked together “to create a real psychology behind what is, perhaps, in a comic book, a less than totally modern psychology.”
Um… okay then. So the new Lex is bald, has layers and is evil. So he’s pretty much like every Lex Luthor before. Not quite seeing a drastic difference here. However Eisenberg does seem to pull of the bald look, so here’s hoping he actually bring something different to the table.
What do you think of the new Lex Luthor?
