Sir Ian McKellen has been cast in Disney’s live-action reboot of ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Ian McKellen has been cast as cogworth in the live action remake of beauty and the beast

Interesting casting news regarding Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beat remake. The brilliant Sir Ian McKellen can now add being a piece of furniture to his resume alongside playing a wizard, Mutant, film director, Nazi teacher… and the list goes on. He’ll be playing butler turned Cogsworth the Clock after The Beast screwed it up for everybody and got a curse placed on the entire habitants of his castle. The witch committed a pretty dog act if you ask me!

The 75-year-old joins previously announced cast members Emma Watson (Belle), Daniel Stevens (The Beast), Luke Evans (Gaston), Josh Gad (Le Fou), Audra McDonald (Singing Wardrobe), Kevin Kline (Maurice) and Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts).

Production is set to begin later this year with Bill Condon taking the role of directing, and Disney Studios looking at the release date  of March 17, 2017. Seems the next few years cinemas will be oversaturated with live-action reboots with the studio also making The Jungle BookDumboMulan, Pinocchio, Pete’s Dragon and Winnie the Pooh.

So are you excited to see Sir Ian McKellen in the role of Cogsworth?
