To celebrate The Joker turning 75-years-old, Suicide Squad director David Ayer has tweeted the first official look at Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto as The Clown Prince of Crime.
Happy Birthday Mr J!
The photo sees Leto sporting green hair, twisted looking dental grills and one purple-coloured glove on his right hand.

Leto’s pose is something of interest. It’s a homage to writer Alan Moore and artist Brian Bolland’s story arc, The Killing Joke. Keep in mind this is actually the second image released with Leto that references the graphic novel. So perhaps we’re getting a subtle hint as to what to expect when we see Jared Leto bring the character to the big screen.
There are rumours circulating that Suicide Squad will have Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie estranged from The Joker due to his involvement with the death of one of the Robins. This little plot line could make the film all the more interesting not to mention what might be revealed in the lead up to film in the form of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
While I do like what I see so far, there is no denying Leto has some pretty big shoes to fill after Heath Ledger’s award-winning role as The Joker, only time will tell if he’s up for the challenge.
