So here’s some interesting film news. Warner Bros. has just snatched up the film rights to an adaptation of Joe Haldeman’s 1974 classic sci-fi novel The Forever War, and Channing Tatum is set to star in he lead role.
As the story goes, William Mandella is a young student enlisted by Earth’s leaders to help fight an alien race called the Taurans. But due to time dilation because of his interstellar space travels, while only a few years may have passed for William, centuries have gone by on Earth.
When he returns home, not only is he surprised by the now unrecognisable planet, there is also one homogenous race with their very own language and set of values. Due to overpopulation, heterosexuality has been outlawed and homosexuality encouraged. Is it me? Or does this sound like an awesome premise for a gay porno?
As one of the last remaining heterosexuals and the fact that he doesn’t speak the language, he is distrusted by the elite squad of gay soldiers he has been chosen to lead, and is left determined more than ever to find his one true love, the very female MaryGay.
Sounds like an interesting watch. I just can’t help but wonder if the metaphor of homosexuality representing totalitarianism will remain in the story and make its transition to the big screen? Only time will.
Will you be watching it?
