Here’s the ‘Suicide Squad’ in all their costumed glory!

Suicide-Squad-Cast-Photo-Costumes

Last month we got a glimpse of Jared Leto as a tattooed Joker for the upcoming film Suicide Squad. As it turns out the photo was simply celebrating the 75 years of the iconic villain and not precisely what Leto will look like in the film. Today director, David Ayer, has treated us with our first look at the fully costumed cast for Suicide Squad.

Dropping the big reveal on Twitter, the photo reveals the nine different members of the cast, with the absence of Leto’s The Joker. Seems Ayer is saving that big reveal for a later date. The first look includes the movie versions of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, amongst many others.

From left to right, the characters pictured are Slipknot (Adam Beach), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez). Looks slightly like they just grabbed a bunch of cosplayers don’t you think?

Ayer later tweeted a picture of Will Smith in the full Deadshot costume, iconic mask and all.

That’s a lot of characters for non-comic fans to get to know. Rather than going for the slow build up that Marvel Studios used when creating its franchises, Warner Bros. and DC are trying jumpstart an entire universe worth of characters with just three films.

Man of Steel was the first film in the new series introducing Superman, with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice the film will have Batman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman appearing when the film opens on the 25th of March 2016. Suicide Squad will follow suit introducing its less heroic characters onto the big screen on August 5th, 2016.

With DC movies scheduled all the way through 2020, there’s a lot riding on the next two films that will either make or destroy the potential new franchise.

So what do you think of the first look at the Suicide Squad?
