More exciting news about The X-Files revival series. It’s been rumoured for quite sometime, But now it’s official, Annabeth Gish returns to The X-Files! The actress is set to reprise her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes when the series returns to television screens in 2016.
The character of Monica Reyes first appeared midway through the eighth season in an episode titled “This Is Not Happening.” At the time, David Duchovny had left the series leaving Robert Patrick stepping in as Agent Scully’s new partner, John Doggett. By the ninth season, Annabeth Gish had series regular with Doggett and Reyes offering a gender-swapped take on the show’s beloved believer/skeptic dynamic.
While Annabeth Gish might be returning, it still appears highly unlikely that Robert Patrick will reprise his role John Doggett.
“I’ll set the record straight with you,” the actor recently said in an interview with The Mary Sue. “I’m not going to do it. …I’m very happy with the job I have. I’m on CBS—that’s a different network—and I’m content and happy and I don’t really see a reason to go and revisit that show. It’s not that I wouldn’t be interested … I just don’t know what the reason is do to both at the same time.”
Well I suppose we can’t have all the original characters coming back, but I am curious to see to what level of involvement Gish’s Monica Reyes will have when the series returns. January 24 still feels so far away. So damn excited for this!
Will you be tuning in when the series returns?
