It’s the moment that every teenage music fan dreads… the breakup of their favourite group. Well it now seems One Direction is set to join the ranks of the Beatles, Spice Girls and many others with the news that the band is splitting up in March to focus on solo projects.
According to reports Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan will go separate ways in March and right now teenagers all over the world are probably breaking down in tears. Never fear teeny boppers the hiatus is allegedly only for a year, and even if the band didn’t come back together I’m sure there’s plenty of cash to be made from reunion tours.
This means there will be no tour for the band’s fifth album and also means that their last full concert (well for now at least) might be at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on the 31st of October. With a series of TV spots and performances already pencilled in before the end of the year that are still likely to go ahead, fans won’t have to say goodbye just yet.
Word is, the four boys will take a break of the festive season at the end of the year before coming back together to complete their promotional commitments for their record label in February. Some might be quick to blame the recent news on the departure of 5th member Zayn Malik who left the group in March, however sources close to the group claim the hiatus was on the cards either way.
It’s a sad day for One Directioners. My thoughts are with you. Now remember there are numerous helplines that can be called if you’re feeling down.
Now for those others, let’s celebrate!
