Now this is kinda exciting. It looks like we’re getting a MacGyver reboot. I loved the series growing up eagerly awaiting with suspense as MacGyver would get himself out of all sorts of stick situations with everything from paper clips and kitchen utensils. The show was classic, however not that long ago I decided to check out an episode online and realised the series hasn’t aged that well. So the idea of a MacGyver reboot is definitely one I can get behind. Just imagine all the things he can do with today’s technology!
Director James Wan will be exciting producing the project and directing the pilot with Henry Winkler who executive produced the original series is also coming on board in the same capacity.
“A reimagining of the television series of the same name, following a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.” – CBS
The original series ran for seven seasons from 1982 – 1992, while there has been several attempts to bring back the series both on the small and big screen to no avail, considering Hollywood’s current fascination with all things nostalgic like Twin Peaks and The Muppets, it is highly likely that this attempt will once more see MacGyver invading our TV screens.
Now I wonder ho will be replacing Richard Dean Anderson?
Will you watch a MacGyver reboot?
